"This is a great hotel located directly on Main St. where a lot of action takes place in Placerville. The lobby is dark and lush, with a beautiful piano. The lobby staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are charming and the decorations are of the period. We loved it. Also, there are rumors that the place is haunted, so look out for ghosts!" "We only stayed here for one night as a stop over whilst travelling. The hotel is lovely, the lobby is quaint and the man on reception was lovely. We arrived early and he saw we got checked in right away. There is a car park at the back of the hotel (through a little alleyway) and you can park here free of charge (with a pass from the hotel). The lift is a hoot. We sat on the balcony at night having a drink - only 10 people on the balcony at a time!! We loved it here and would definitely recommend a visit." "We only spent a single night at the Cary House but we were impressed. The lobby is beautiful and set the tone. The 90 year old elevator could only handle 2 people at a time which we found charming and hilarious. The room was not huge, and had a slope to the floor not unusual for old buildings, but it was comfortable, clean, and quiet. We would have happily stayed longer if we needed to."
